Time Sensitive: Reserve Your Place with MERCL Israel Strategic Preview Mission
As we see how the beautiful, inspiring, peaceful and welcoming nature of Israel is lost in the din of 24/7 news, MERCL, CIPAC’s sister think tank, is launching a special Strategic Preview study (and action) mission to Israel June 12-22 , 2015 to unveil all these and more hidden aspects of the reborn Holy Land. You, your families and friends are invited to come join me. At a special price of only $3,998 (air from New York or Los Angeles, land, tips and taxes, based on group of twenty) this is the unique Israel mission of a lifetime.
The strategic preview we receive and the lessons from past Israeli wars and peace efforts with US input will infuse our upgraded action plan to advance US and Israeli security and wellbeing. Another theme we will sound is to assure Israeli leaders and other citizens of our solidarity and commitment to Israel’s security and well-being as a key US partner. We will see places, hear views and do things that even most diplomats never experience – and receive insights most have never considered. This will make you an inspired citizen advocate in Congress when you return home if that’s your goal.
But fear not! Our mission will not just be about war and diplomacy, like History Channel reruns! Along with the main Christian and Jewish points of interest, we visit biblical sites, examine new archaeological finds and meet Israelis of all kinds, led by our
experienced guide who has served us often, in air conditioned coaches with veteran drivers whom we know well, as we tour historic Hebron, Jerusalem, coastal, Galilean, Judean and Samarian communities and more. Along the way, you will observe the
flowers, other plants, birds and other domestic livestock and wildlife of the Bible, all of whom Israel has worked hard to preserve – and even -restore – since even before the foundation of the modern state. The true identity of the “lilies of the valley, wild goats, eagles, unicorns and dragons”, among other creatures mentioned in English translations of the Bible, will be revealed with their true scientific names, in Hebrew and English, as we see them in their habitat.
Special new features this year will emphasize Israel’s emergence as a major force in 21st century innovation, science, technology and business development, internally and worldwide. Israel’s success in keeping the nation’s air and waters clean and healthy while developing
economically and becoming energy independent will be witnessed. We will add extra spice to our travel through expert speakers on intelligence, war, diplomacy, the economy, and Israel’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity – even prophetic Bible codes.
Did I mention we always have a lot of fun in Israel? Joy comes from singing in English and Hebrew on the bus, climbing Masada (or cheering the climbers if you feel less energetic and take the car up to the top), maybe rafting or tubing on the Upper Jordan, riding a camel or even an Arabian steed at a guest ranch. The sky’s the limit: in fact, you can help shape the mission by telling us soon what aspects of Israeli life and culture you’ve always wanted to experience.
Starting from the beaches of Tel Aviv, heart of Israel’s Wall Street/Pentagon/Silicon Valley urban complex, we traverse the Mediterranean shore via Herzliya, Caesaria and Haifa to Tiberias and Katzrin (capitals of the Galilee and the Golan
respectively). Then we ascend past Jericho to Jerusalem, Israel’s ancient and present capital, and its predecessor. We’ve asked our friend Ezra to drive us to Hebron and the rest of Judea and Samaria. From Jerusalem we descend to the Dead Sea, Qumran, Ein Gedi and Masada. Enroute to such modern New
Towns as Sha’are Tikva, Ariel and Maale Adumim in Judea and Samaria, as we stop for a tasty Israeli snacks. There also will be ample opportunities to shop for the treasures of Israel – from jewelry at Eli’s Megiddo shop to the Ben-Yehuda shopping street and the Arab Shuk in Jerusalem, and shops at the Israel nature reserves and archeological sites.
As with our prior missions we have a specific study objective: to obtain a strategic preview of how Israel’s and America’s shared threats from radical actors on the Middle East stage will be
handled, defused and neutralized safely. This inside story we receive will be paired with on-the-ground study of the battles and the lessons learned from past wars and peace efforts, and visits to Israeli defense forces at land, sea and air bases. We have a special invitation, for example, to see how Israel trains dogs to detect IED’S.
The historic backdrop to the trip is that it is forty years after the United States enacted the Jackson-Vanik Amendment, which, with the Helsinki Treaty and as a prelude to President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, presaged the Soviet Union’s unraveling and the end of the
Cold War. In a major chapter of that conflict, Israel, following the Yom Kippur War, which might have been lost but for last-minute US resupply, was seen as a key American ally and bastion of democracy and freedom in the Middle East, as should be clear today. Our visit also will be almost ten years after the unilateral withdrawal of all
Israelis from Gaza, in the last gasp of a peace process that began with the signing of the Oslo peace accords September 13, 1993. Finally we will see how the fragile Gaza ceasefire is holding almost a year after we were there during Operation Protective Edge. This historic backdrop will help illuminate the vital importance of Israel to American security today, not just the opposite that usually is cited.
Most important: the big difference is with whom you go on such a once in a lifetime journey. As Hebrew speakers steeped in the history and culture of the People and the Land, we have visited Israel often since living and working there for seven years. No one gives you a more memorable mission or a more reasonable package. You’ll meet new friends, get all your questions answered and fulfill your personal quest.
Now is the time for you to connect with Israel – and real Israelis – or to reconnect if you have been there before. If you agree, just make a quality decision to do it! Then all such details as family situation, funds and leave from work will fall in place.
